RITUAL HERBS
As we search for re-connection with the planet and her secrets, we return to the herbs used by the Druids and Celts to align energy, clear our vision, and for a feeling of safety and protection. The following herbs were chosen using “The Master Book of Herbalism” by Paul Beyerl. He includes instruction for making amulets, oils and incenses.
Although I am afraid of being labeled “flakey” for proceeding with this aspect of the herb business, I will proceed even further into the swamp by explaining that the plants told me to do it.
I am also respecting the original spellings. All are $3.50 a packet
I have packaged the following, and labels contain these descriptions:
- Burnett - Said to drive away despair, but also used in ritual preparation of magickal tools – to both purify and focus power.
- Borage – Borage assists in fortifying the inner self and bringing joy during difficult times, by bathing with, drinking as a tonic or burning during meditation.
- Cedar – Incense of cedar is used for consecration of magickal wands, or small pieces can be tucked into the wallet to attract money.
- Cinquefoil – With an affinity for the maternal aspect of nature, cinquefoil balances energy and assists in manifesting an intention.
- Clary Sage – (these are from a Certified Organic source as mine are not ready until 2005) Used to enhance visions during meditation, or to protect ability to see. Can be made into lotions and applied around eyes or to chakras.
- Elder blossoms - A very potent herbe, Elder must be used with clear goals and good ethics, and will then increase the power of the ritual. Use in incense or oils.
- Fennel Seed and Herbe– Hang over doors to protect the home, drunk as a tonic to increase longevity and the ability to face danger.
- Hops – used in dream pillows.
- Lady’s Mantle – Ancient herbe of the Earth Goddess, Lady’s Mantle will make a magickal mixture more effective by increasing the power and focusing the energy.
- Lavender - Attracts energy of a high vibrational nature. Can be burned as incense or drunk as a tonic.
- Lemon Balm - Lemon balm’s ritual use is to attract romance. It can be scattered in the bathwater, or incorporated into charms.
- Magick Mints – A mixture of my most robust mints. Used in amulets and in spells, mints carry the qualities of success and protection.
- Motherwort - Enriching a sense of success and purpose, Motherwort is also used as an Herbe of Protection and Countermagicke.
- Mugwort – a Visionary Herbe and Herbe of Protection, Mugwort can be used in dreampillows to assist with dreaming of the future, mystical dreams and enlightenment.
- Mullein – An Herbe of Protection, dried mullein leaf is carried as a talisman of safety. Is also used in rituals for women.
- Peppermint – a Visionary Herbe, burned at sunset to bring prophetic dreams. Used in divination, and can be taken as a tea to improve one’s skill.
- Red Clover – a sacred Herbe of the Celts, holds energy used in the ritual healings of domestic animals and pets. Also a Herbe of Immortality. “Steeping the blossoms and drinking the draught is an excellent means of getting in touch with one’s eternal soul.”
- Rosemary – An Herbe of Protection, Rosemary will bring confidence when facing the enemy. Placed under the bed, can protect from frightening dreams.
- Rue – A Herbe of Protection, used for bringing good. As a countermagicke Herbe, used for cleansing tainted items. Also used to bring love.
- Sage – Herbe of longevity, to bring health, to cure, to save. “The desire of sage is to render man immortal.”
- St. John’s wort - This is a Herbe of Protection, associated with fire and the fire spirits. It can be tossed into the fire to protect a home from storms, or worn as an amulet.
- Southernwood - This herbe is considered an aphrodisiac, associated with desire and attractiveness. When bathed in, is said to increase potency and sexual skills in males.
- Tansy – an Herbe of Immortality, and in womens’s rituals, and an herbe to honour the Goddesses.
- Vervain - Used by many cultures as a Visionary Herbe, a Herbe of Protection, and a Herbe of Immortality. When worn by poets and singers, brings inspiration and increased skill.
- Yarrow – Considered sacred by many cultures for many uses, Sprigs of yarrow are charms for courage and protection. Wear a sprig of yarrow to avert negative energy
- Tobacco – Universal gift in the Pan Americas for thanking and requesting favour of any of Gaia’s messengers.
- There are more – please ask – I have small quantities of others.
